Adam Ross came to America around 1880, a penniless stonecutter from Aberdeen, Scotland. Making his way slowly up the Hudson River from New York City, he eventually established a small cut stone business in Troy.

Using little more than hammer and chisel, he often labored 7 days a week, 10 hours a day. He soon became a familiar site along the river as he delivered cut stone by horse drawn wagon to a growing number of area customers who admired his diligence and stonecutting skill.

With Adam's son entering the business, orders increased, necessitating a move to larger quarters in North Albany. Although the facilities have been greatly expanded and modernized through the years, Adam Ross, still family-owned and operated, is located at that same North Albany location.

Today Adam Ross supplies cut stone throughout the Northeast for virtually all applications- residential, commercial and institutional.

Adam Ross Cut Stone Company, Inc., offers one of the largest selections of marble, granite and other veneer stones available in the Northeast.

One of the biggest trends over the past few years has been the use of stone inside the home. Homeowners, it seems, have rekindled a long-standing love affair with stone. Decorators and architects are specifying stone in the construction of new homes. Marble, as well as granite, slate, and bluestone, have become incredibly popular.

If you are coming from the...............

NORTH: Take the Northway (87) southbound to exit 7 for Alternate Route 7.  Take Alt. Route 7 east to 787 south. Get off 787 at exit 6 (US Route 32 Menands). Turn left on to Broadway at the end of the ramp. Stay on Broadway until you reach the sixth traffic light. Our shop will be on your left hand side.

SOUTH: Take exit 23 off the Thruway.  Go through the tollbooths to 787 north. Take exit 4 (Downtown Albany U.S. 9N / U.S. 20W). Follow the river 3/4 of a mile to the Clinton Avenue ramp. Go left onto the ramp and at the end take a right onto Broadway. We are up the street 3 or 4 blocks on the right.

EAST: Take I-90 west to exit 6 (Arbor Hill / Loudonville). Stay in the right lane for Loudonville, exit right onto the Northern Blvd. ramp. Turn left at the traffic light. Go to your second set of lights, and turn left onto Loudonville road. Go down the hill until you run into Broadway. We will be right in front of you at the intersection.

WEST: Take exit 24 off the Thruway to I-90 East. Take exit 6 (Arbor Hill/Loudonville) and bear left for Loudonville. Approximately 1/8 mile, exit right onto the Northern Blvd. ramp. At the light, take a left. Go to your second set of lights and turn left onto Loudonville Road. Go down the hill until you run into Broadway. We will be right in front of you at the intersection.
